With judoka Peter Seisenbacher as a co-pilot Rudi finished 11th behind 10 factory teams in the 1985 Rally Akropolis
After that run the cigarette factory HB became his main sponsor and it was decided that Rudi should drive in the Rally World Championship in the following year.
